How do you do it?

When I am working with a client, we will first talk about their needs and what the preferred medium is. From there, the final rendering is completed in a series of steps and proofs.

How long does an architectural illustration take to complete?

The average project in 2D usually takes about two (2) weeks. An example of a project of that magnitude would be an eye-level view of a 1 to 10 story building.

An animation similar to those on this site would take 1 to 3 months.

How much does it cost?

After a preliminary discussion of the requirements for your project, you will be sent a cost estimate to review. Work begins only after we have agreed on the cost and terms of the contract.

What kind of information do you need to start work?

Floor plans, elevations, site plans, colors, and photos of the surrounding area (if applicable to the rendering) are extremely helpful to get started.

How do we work through the revision process together?

You will be actively involved in the revision process, able to give input at several steps along the way.

  1. The first sketch you will see is a preliminary "block out", which will be emailed or faxed to you. We will discuss how it meets your goals and what changes may be needed before proceeding.
  2. Upon your approval of the preliminary sketch, a more detailed sketch will be created with entourage (trees, cars people). Again, once we have agreed on any necessary changes, we proceed to the next step.
  3. As we near completion of the project, color is applied to the secondary sketch, and if you prefer, you may receive this color proof in digital format.
  4. The final product will be sent to you in your preferred format and delivery mode (see services page for options).

What if I only have a concept and no plans?

If you do not have floor plans or other concrete ideas, that's okay! I can do a loose style conceptual rendering for you, based on our discussions of your ideas. If you decide you need more detail, we can refine your idea and work through a longer revision process to get a detailed drawing.

What do I end up with?

Your final product will be a high-quality, professional rendering that represents your ideas and makes your vision concrete. Depending on the media you select, your final delivery may be a physical image mounted on sturdy foamboard, or a high-resolution digital image that can be printed at virtually any size. Most traditional renderings are approximately 24 x 36 inches.

How confidential is my project?

All project information is kept strictly confidential. With your approval, however, your sketches may be added to this web site along with the addition of your name to my list of clients.

What if I don't like the final illustration?

Your satisfaction is guaranteed. Your approval at each step in the revision process is critical to the overall success of the project.
